The City of Mississauga seeks an experienced Application Developer to modernize the Property Tax Management system by designing, building, and deploying cloud-native web applications using Java and AWS to replace legacy Oracle Forms and reports. The role is a 2-year temporary contract based hybrid position at City Hall in Mississauga.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accessible, responsive web interfaces using TypeScript and modern frameworks like React or Angular
  • Develop and maintain Java services, APIs, business rules, and integrations supporting property-tax workflows
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and reusable services integrating frontends, databases, reporting, and external systems
  • Build containerized services on Amazon ECS and AWS Fargate with S3 and DynamoDB for state management
  • Create and maintain automated unit, integration, API, end-to-end, and security tests

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3–5 years developing enterprise applications
  • Experience with Java, object-oriented programming, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and web services
  • Experience with AWS services (ECS Fargate, S3, Aurora DB, ALB, CloudFront) and cloud-based application development
