Contract full-time Archives Reprographic Technician position with Region of Peel Archives in Brampton, responsible for digitizing records, managing digital files, processing reproduction requests, and maintaining reprographic equipment while supporting archival collections and outreach programs.
Key Responsibilities
Digitize selected records following institutional procedures and liaise with archival staff and clients on image specifications
Oversee capture and migration of digital content from various storage media (hard drives, USB sticks, floppy disks, CDs, tapes)
Perform digital file management including renaming, organizing, and uploading objects to network and repository systems
Respond to and fulfill reproduction requests from internal and external clients, ensuring quality and timely delivery
Create and update records in collections management system databases using RAD and RPA standards
Qualifications
College diploma or certificate in digital graphic design or related field with at least two years reprographic experience with historical resources
Demonstrated experience with Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 5, Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional, Microsoft Access, and advanced scanner software settings
Sound knowledge of computer graphics software applications and record digitization techniques
Demonstrated experience with archival practices including metadata standards, digitization workflows, and care of fragile records
Ability to lift record boxes up to 30 pounds on a routine basis
