Assistant City Archivist position in the City Clerk's Office, reporting to the City Archivist. Responsible for providing professional archival services including acquisition, arrangement, preservation, and public access to the City Archives' physical and digital collections.
Key Responsibilities
Acquire, appraise, arrange, describe, preserve and process physical and digital archival collections
Manage digital archival collections including metadata creation, digitization and digital preservation
Maintain archival information systems, databases and descriptive records including MemorySask database
Provide archival reference and research services to staff, researchers and public
Assist with preservation activities including environmental monitoring and collection care for physical and digital records
Qualifications
Master's in archival studies with one year related archival experience OR degree in history, humanities, or social sciences with three years directly related archival experience
Familiarity with current trends in Canadian Archival theory and practice including Rules for Archival Description (RAD)
Knowledge of legislation pertaining to management of municipal records
Demonstrated ability to use computer applications including automated information systems and databases
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
