The Audit Analyst role supports Toronto's Auditor General's Office in executing performance audits and special projects to ensure accountability over public funds. This is a full-time temporary position (1 year) for a newly designated accountant/auditor or CPA candidate to join the audit team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with research, benchmarking, and audit/investigation procedures during planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases
Perform assigned audit tests within defined audit programs and validate implementation of previous recommendations
Analyze data, compile results, validate information, and prepare working papers to office standards
Identify audit findings and potential recommendations during testing procedures
Maintain communication with supervising manager and follow up on outstanding issues to complete audit projects
Qualifications
Working towards completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and/or other relevant designation (CIA, CISA, CGAP, CFE); or undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent education/experience combination
Experience with external/internal audits (preferred)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of data analytics tools such as ACL, Tableau, or similar (asset); experience with Teammate or other audit management software (strongly preferred)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, and organizational skills with sound judgment
Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to handle confidential/sensitive matters
