About this job

Water treatment plant operator role responsible for operating equipment and controlling operational phases of water treatment processes (filtration, purification, pumping) to produce potable or wastewater meeting established standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment and manage water treatment process components (intake, filtration, purification, pumping stations) for adequate performance
  • Monitor and control process stages, apply quality management programs, and make necessary corrections
  • Measure, observe, interpret treatment parameters, read instruments, perform calculations, and compile data/results
  • Inspect installations, modify or replace defective equipment/building parts when specialized worker intervention not required
  • Prepare chemical solutions, dose chemicals, replace chlorine cylinders, and conduct water sampling/analysis

Qualifications

  • DEP in water treatment process operation; AEC in water management and sanitation; DEC in water sanitation; or DEC in industrial processes
  • 1 year relevant experience
  • General safety course on construction sites
  • Valid Class 3 driver's license
