Key Responsibilities
Review and approve residential and non-complex commercial applications; advise owners, designers, and contractors of deficiencies
Schedule, prioritize, and inspect buildings and structures during all construction phases for code compliance
Maintain inspection records and issue reports; conduct follow-up inspections to verify infractions are rectified
Circulate plans for review and approval by divisions and departments; prepare plans for permit issuance
Perform special inspections related to complaints, fire-damaged buildings, relocations, and pre-approval inspections
Qualifications
Grade 12 education plus graduation from two-year post-secondary architectural, mechanical, civil or related engineering technology program with five years progressive related building construction experience; OR Saskatchewan Journeyman Carpenter Certificate with five years progressive journeyman trade experience
Possession of valid Level 2 Saskatchewan Building Official Licence
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License and suitable vehicle; current driver abstract from SGI demonstrating safe driving record
Thorough knowledge of Part 9 of National Building Code, Swimming Pool Bylaw, and The Construction Codes Act
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and workflow software
