The City of Saskatoon seeks an experienced City Solicitor to lead the City Solicitor's Office and provide comprehensive legal services to City Council, Administration, and civic boards. This permanent full-time executive role oversees legal matters including municipal law, litigation, legislation, bylaws, and contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Set strategic direction for the City Solicitor's Office and establish goals aligned with the City's strategy
Supervise provision of legal services across litigation, municipal law, planning, employment law, prosecutions, real estate, and construction
Provide legal advice to City Council, Executive Committee, and senior management on corporate and municipal matters
Manage outsourced specialized legal service providers
Represent the organization in court and formal/informal legal proceedings
Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctorate (JD) degree
Membership in the Law Society of Saskatchewan
Ten years' progressively responsible experience at senior level providing legal services in multifaceted settings with extensive municipal law experience
Demonstrated team management and leadership capabilities
Visioning and strategic thinking competency
