The City of Vancouver seeks a Professional Engineer to lead transportation design teams in developing active transportation and safety projects. Key Responsibilities

Lead teams of designers and junior engineers to develop transportation designs focused on All Ages and Abilities cycling facilities, safety improvements, and transit designs
Hire, manage, and evaluate team members including work assignment, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation
Provide expertise on protected bike lanes, protected intersections, pedestrian-focused designs, transit priority, and safety interventions
Coordinate integrated designs with internal teams (water, sewer, utilities, streets) and manage external stakeholder engagement and partnerships
Prepare and present to Council, Committees, and advisory committees; represent the City in public engagement processes including evening and weekend meetings

Qualifications

Professional Engineer with minimum 5 years leading effective teams
Registration or eligibility for registration as Professional Engineer in British Columbia
Expertise in transportation design, active transportation, or related field
Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage project budgets
Knowledge of protected bike lanes, protected intersections, pedestrian design, transit design, and safety improvements
