Part-time Civil Engineering Inspector for two four-month contract positions (December to March) overseeing winter road maintenance contractors, performing inspections, and maintaining documentation for the Town of Oakville Roads and Works Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee contractor work in winter road plowing, sidewalk plowing, and snow clearing operations
  • Perform winter-related inspections, contract administration, and customer complaint tracking and documentation
  • Prepare written reports and field summary forms with accuracy
  • Maintain daily written records of work-related activities and inspection performance measures
  • Apply safety precautions in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Corporate policies

Qualifications

  • Graduate of three-year Civil Engineering Technology program or Transportation Technology diploma program (or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience in AutoCAD and ESRI GIS software is an asset
  • Valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver's License Class G minimum with responsible driving record (applicants with 6+ points ineligible)
  • Ability to deal courteously with public and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Ability and willingness to work in varying climate conditions
