This role supervises dispatch and delivery of all Oakville Transit services from a control centre, managing on-time performance, driver scheduling, and service adjustments while reporting to the Manager of Transit Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage dispatching of all transit services, adjust driver schedules and authorize overtime
- Supervise drivers remotely from control centre with focus on schedule adherence and on-time performance
- Make real-time service adjustments for delays caused by breakdowns, accidents, weather and congestion
- Utilize Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for communications and coordinate with emergency services as required
- Create and maintain vehicle dispatch sheets, track driver hours, sick time and overtime for payroll system
Qualifications
- Completion of two-year college diploma and minimum three years related transit experience
- Highly developed understanding of transit regulations, Town policies, collective agreement provisions
- Familiar with practical application of technology in public transit environment with outstanding leadership and supervisory abilities
- Valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver's License Class G minimum with safe driving record (fewer than 6 points)
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector check dated within 60 days of employment offer
