About this job

Relief/casual Cook position at Allendale Long Term Care Facility reporting to the Production Kitchen Supervisor. Responsible for maintaining sanitary kitchen operations and preparing food according to Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards for residents and outside clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete food purchasing with emphasis on budget, quality, safety and waste
  • Prepare and handle food according to standardized recipes ensuring quality, safety and quantity
  • Safely chill cooked products in timely manner and maintain clean, safe kitchen environment
  • Document food temperature, chill time and quality; label products with expiry dates
  • Act as lead hand during Supervisor's absence

Qualifications

  • Chef training or culinary management diploma/certificate from recognized college, or post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management, or post-secondary degree in Food and Nutrition
  • Current Food Handler Certification
  • Minimum two years' experience in quantity food preparation
  • Ability to operate quantity food production equipment and maintain food production records
  • Strong teamwork, organizational and customer service skills
