Part-time Cook position at Sunnyside Home (long-term care facility) in Kitchener. Prepares nutritious meals and snacks for residents and staff while supporting person-centred care in a home-like environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares, portions, and presents meals and snacks for residents, staff, visitors, and special events
  • Follows standardized recipes and menus; converts recipes for large quantity preparation and creates production estimates
  • Prepares food for therapeutic and texture-modified diets; manages food labeling, dating, storage, and rotation
  • Maintains kitchen equipment, checks temperatures, and reports safety issues; bakes desserts and special items as assigned
  • Provides guidance to food services staff, participates in menu planning meetings, and assists with training and internal audits

Qualifications

  • College diploma in food preparation, culinary skills, or equivalent; or Red Seal Cook certification
  • Experience in large quantity food preparation in health care or long-term care setting
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Understanding of therapeutic diets
  • Tuberculosis (TB) test and required immunization(s); acceptable vulnerable sector police check
