The Electrical Engineer assists with asset inspections, maintenance and replacement prioritization, and technical support for the City of Vancouver's building electrical systems. The role supports the Building Condition Assessment program, establishes electrical technical standards, and manages smaller-scale capital projects while acting as a technical subject matter expert on departmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed facility inspections on electrical system components to establish and update asset inventory and condition
  • Support prioritization of maintenance and replacement requirements for electrical system components in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Procure, manage, and oversee professional services and vendor contracts for electrical system studies and assessments
  • Assist with development of technical design standards, specifications, and standardized maintenance programs
  • Advise on regulatory requirements and code compliance pertaining to electrical systems and building upgrades

Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years current and relevant professional experience in asset management, project management, and building electrical system lifecycle management
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering with Engineers & Geoscientist of British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Considerable knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and specifications for facilities in municipal environment
