Engineering Technologist Technician 1 supporting Toronto's Street Permits section in Transportation Services. The role involves administering construction projects, preparing technical documentation, conducting field inspections, and managing utility and construction permits across two civic centres in Scarborough and Etobicoke.
Key Responsibilities
- Administers, prepares, coordinates and reviews designs, reports, specifications and documentation for construction projects, land development and third-party proposals
- Prepares drafts of documents, reports, contracts, specifications and agreements for supervisors and project managers
- Conducts field inspections to verify contractor compliance with approved designs, safety procedures, regulations and City policies
- Investigates and responds to inquiries from public, politicians, contractors, municipalities, businesses and City staff
- Configures and manipulates data using Microsoft Excel, Access and GIS applications; develops and maintains programs such as ArcGIS, RACS and TMMS
Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in Civil or Transportation engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Considerable experience reading, interpreting and reviewing engineering utility design drawings, architectural drawings and surveys
- Considerable experience administering, preparing and coordinating requirements for construction projects, land development and third-party proposals
- Experience in traffic engineering, civil engineering or transportation engineering principles and practices
- Valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver's licence and ability to obtain City Driver's permit
