Full-time permanent Engineering Technologist Technician 1 role with Toronto Water, responsible for administering, coordinating, and reviewing designs, reports, and specifications for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Position involves field inspections, CADD drafting, regulatory compliance, and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Administers, prepares, and coordinates requirements and reviews designs, reports, specifications, and documentation for Toronto Water projects using various software applications
- Conducts surveys, investigations, and field inspections of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure including chambers, service connections, and meter installations
- Performs design and drafting work using CADD and prepares technical drawings and map data
- Checks contractor and developer work to ensure safety compliance, adherence to approved designs, regulations, and specifications
- Investigates and responds to inquiries from public, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders related to Toronto Water projects and programs
Qualifications
- Completion of Civil Engineering Technologist Program from recognized College or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Considerable experience in Civil Engineering with practical experience in municipal water distribution, wastewater collection, and storm water management
- Extensive experience with manual and computerized mathematical calculations for reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering analyses
- Experience operating CADD (e.g. Microstation), TWAG, DCAD, and GIS (e.g. ArcView)
- Class G or better valid Ontario Driver's License and ability to provide personal vehicle
