Key Responsibilities

Conduct environmental field sampling, inspections and investigations of industrial, commercial, institutional and residential properties to ensure compliance with City by-laws
Investigate potential infractions of environmental statutes and by-laws; collect and document evidence; issue notices of violations and orders
Install, maintain, retrieve and calibrate field monitoring instrumentation; download, review, compile and interpret field monitoring data
Respond to sewage works and surface water spills within the City of Toronto with ability to work rotating shifts 24/7
Prepare written documents for legal proceedings and attend Provincial court and Tribunals to present evidence

Qualifications

Secondary school graduation diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in Environmental Compliance and Enforcement
Experience or post-secondary training in Environmental Law and conducting inspections, investigations and enforcement actions
Experience or educational courses in interpreting wastewater and water analytical data and understanding industrial processes
Experience dealing with the public in dispute management or conflict resolution situations
Valid Ontario Driver's License Class G and ability to obtain City Equipment Operator's License
