Equipment Operator VIII operates sewer maintenance and hydro-excavation equipment including sewer cleaner trucks, Harben trucks, and hydro-excavation trucks under supervision. The role involves conducting sewer maintenance, soft-digging operations, and related equipment operation for the Water and Waste Operations division.
Key Responsibilities
Operates hydro-excavation equipment, sewer cleaner truck, and manhole vacuum for sewer maintenance and soft-digging operations
Directs and trains staff assisting in operation of sewer cleaner truck and manhole vacuum
Performs routine safety checks and servicing of equipment including fluid levels and greasing
Inspects and cleans manholes, chambers, sewer mains, and superpipes manually or otherwise as required
Maintains accurate and detailed records of work performed and complies with Occupational Health and Safety regulations including confined space entry procedures
Qualifications
Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalency certificate
Three years' experience related to water or sewer systems including one year repairing, inspecting and cleaning sewer collection systems
