Permanent contract position for 5 Exercise Counsellors and Personal Trainers with the City of Mississauga Recreation and Sports Department. Role involves instructing clients on exercise techniques, conducting fitness assessments, designing personalized training programs, and maintaining facility safety and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proper exercise technique and equipment use to customers
  • Conduct Fitness Starters (45-minute sessions) including blood pressure/heart rate screening
  • Perform daily safety inspections, inventories, and cleaning duties
  • Provide Fitness Assessments focusing on body composition, strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health
  • Design personalized exercise programs based on client goals, needs, and limitations

Qualifications

  • Personal Training Certificate from recognized association (Can Fit Pro, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, CPTN or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years completion of College Diploma or University Degree program in fitness-related field
  • Valid Basic First Aid and CPR B certification, or Immediate First Aid and CPR C certification required prior to start date
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of PAR Q interpretation and common fitness training techniques
