Full-time Facility Building Attendant role with the Region of Waterloo's Facilities Operations department, responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and accessibility across corporate facilities including social housing, shelters, libraries, transit, and emergency services buildings. Position involves general maintenance, repairs, custodial duties, and coordination with contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs for building interior and exterior systems, common areas, tenant suites, elevators, and windows
  • Perform minor repairs such as wall patching, painting, caulking, door repairs, and replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters
  • Respond to and report vandalism, emergencies, and building system problems to management; ensure door and locking systems function properly
  • Collect and remove garbage from building and common areas; coordinate recycling and inspect grounds for cleanliness
  • Monitor contractors' work to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and report progress; contact, escort, and monitor contractors on site

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education plus 2 years of related building maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with health and safety policies, residential tenancy, and fire code legislation
  • Communication and human relations skills to interact with co-workers, suppliers, contractors, clients, and tenants
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, work order management systems, internet, and email
  • Valid G driver's license (or G2 with 3 years driving experience) and acceptable driving record to operate corporate vehicles
