Key Responsibilities
- Prepares, portions, and assembles food and snacks for resident meals; prepares beverages and breakfast items
- Portions food per resident dietary profiles and physician/dietitian orders; communicates dietary observations to care team
- Sets up meal service in kitchenette dining rooms; reheats food to safe temperatures and maintains temperature records
- Cleans kitchen equipment and kitchenette; loads and unloads dishwashers; manages inventory and food supply orders
- Encourages social mealtimes, assists residents during meals, and supports family and volunteer involvement
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education plus completion or enrollment in food services program (e.g., food service worker certificate, cook certificate, food and nutrition diploma) with related experience
- Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Tuberculosis test and required immunizations
- Acceptable vulnerable sector police check
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English; basic understanding of geriatric population
