Supervisory role in Developed Parks overseeing grounds maintenance crews for parks, sports fields, trails, and related public park operations. Reports to a supervisor and manages planning, assignment, supervision, and participation in various maintenance and construction tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, supervise, review, inspect and participate in work of one or more subordinate crews
  • Manage public parks grounds maintenance, sports field maintenance, trail maintenance, and irrigation
  • Oversee habitat restoration, invasive species control, tree removal, and park amenity maintenance
  • Assist with preliminary budget estimates and monitor expenditures; advise supervisor of anticipated problems
  • Motivate, allocate, train, and discipline crew members; participate in snow and ice control as required

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 completion, preferably supplemented by training or courses related to the work
  • Considerable related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of public parks ground maintenance, sports field maintenance, irrigation systems, minor construction, habitat restoration, and invasive species control operations
  • Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety standards applicable to the work
  • Valid Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia

At a glance

Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Temporary Full Time until May 14, 2027
Subject to Note 'H' of Schedule 'B' of CUPE 23 Outside Division Collective Agreement
