Temporary position with the City of Mississauga's Parks and Forestry Department offering hands-on experience in urban forestry. Four roles available focusing on forestry planning, resource management, and capital delivery, involving field work, data collection, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Provide recommendations for tree planting locations and species in public areas
Perform field audits to validate contractor work orders and compliance
Monitor and assess health and condition of trees and vegetation; identify deficiencies
Support natural area restoration projects by assessing field conditions
Collect data, maintain records, update GIS maps, and operate specialized equipment

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree or diploma in forestry, arboriculture, urban forestry, ecology, or related field
Minimum 1–2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and training
Knowledge of urban forestry, arboriculture, and ecological principles
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, GIS, and computers
Valid Ontario Class G2 Driver's License or higher with acceptable driving record
