About this job
Health & Safety Officer for Toronto Children's Services responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive occupational health, safety and wellness programs across 40+ work locations. Provides expert consultation, leadership, and compliance oversight to management and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive divisional Health, Safety and Wellness Program in consultation with corporate, union and divisional stakeholders
- Lead divisional joint Health and Safety Committee; provide expert guidance on infection control, incident reporting, and return to work practices
- Conduct audits, consultations, and manage health and safety initiatives across 40+ work locations
- Prepare and submit compliance documentation to Ministry of Labour, Toronto Public Health, and other regulatory bodies
- Develop and deliver training, workshops, and education programs addressing divisional health, safety and wellness needs
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., Canadian Registered Safety Professionals Certification) or equivalent combination of education and experience in related discipline
- Considerable experience providing consultation and guidance on occupational health and safety compliance in a unionized environment
- Considerable experience developing and delivering health, safety and wellness programs and training
- Knowledge of applicable legislation (Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act) and collective agreements
- Ability to use M365 Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS) and other software including Quatro
