Human Resource Consultant III providing strategic HR advisory and support to City of Vancouver departments, with one role focused on Vancouver Fire Rescue Services labour relations in a unionized environment. The consultant will address workforce challenges, manage investigations and grievances, and advance organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and coaching on HR matters including collective agreement interpretation, policy application, workforce planning, and performance management
  • Lead investigatory and disciplinary meetings, grievance discussions, and grievance hearings
  • Participate in labour-management meetings and support resolution of employee and labour relations issues
  • Partner with HR colleagues, managers, employees, and union representatives to foster positive workplace relationships
  • Support implementation of process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Related degree or diploma and significant experience in a senior HR generalist role within a unionized environment
  • Strong background in employee and labour relations
  • Experience advising managers on collective agreement interpretation, performance management, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and grievance resolution
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, coaching, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while delivering responsive HR support in a fast-paced environment
