About this job

Temporary full-time Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) in Labour Relations reporting to the Manager of Labour Relations & Disability Management. The role provides strategic HR consulting and labour relations expertise across the City of Oshawa's unionized workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employee and labour relations including grievances, mediation, arbitration, and progressive discipline
  • Support collective bargaining including preparation, strategy, representation at bargaining table, and implementation
  • Lead reorganizations, layoffs, redeployments, and union agreements
  • Conduct internal investigations related to code of conduct, workplace respect, and policy/legislation violations
  • Provide performance management advice and coaching to leaders and employees

Qualifications

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent education and experience combination)
  • Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in Human Resources and Labour & Employee Relations
  • Experience working in a unionized setting (public sector experience is a strong asset)
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, CHRL preferred, or working towards designation
  • Demonstrated experience with grievance, mediation, and arbitration matters
