Landscape Architect I role within the Green Rainwater Infrastructure Branch responsible for designing, delivering, and managing green rainwater infrastructure assets that treat and retain rainwater runoff. The position involves producing GRI designs, supporting project implementation from planning through construction, and providing landscape architecture expertise for projects such as bioretention, rainwater tree trenches, and stormwater wetlands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and GRI and landscape design expertise
  • Perform site evaluations and prepare preliminary site design concepts for GRI projects
  • Prepare detailed landscape design drawings for construction including grading, materials, cross-sections, and planting plans
  • Consult with project stakeholders including municipal infrastructure groups, utilities, citizens, and community groups
  • Support construction through coordination, procurement, field inspections, and deficiency reviews

Qualifications

  • University graduation with specialization in landscape architecture and minimum two years' experience in landscape design and development
  • Professional license from BC Society of Landscape Architecture
  • Thorough knowledge of GRI design, materials, construction methods, and operations and maintenance
  • Considerable knowledge of soil science, ecology, horticultural science, and urban landscape design principles
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for plan set production and drafting
