The Landscape Designer supports capital plan project delivery for parks, outdoor sport fields, and public spaces. The role involves preparing design concepts, detailed drawings, cost estimates, and public engagement materials, plus coordinating with contractors and staff on project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare preliminary site design concepts for new parks and park renovations
Prepare detailed landscape design drawings with specifications for grading, planting, and drainage
Prepare graphic presentations, plans, and preliminary cost estimates
Review contractor submittals and inspect work; document discrepancies and report recommendations
Consult with civic personnel and community groups on assigned projects

Qualifications

Graduation from an Institute of Technology in Landscape Construction, Landscape Horticulture, or related discipline with related experience; or University degree in Landscape Architecture with some related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
Thorough knowledge of landscape design principles, methods, and practices
Sound knowledge of ornamental horticultural practices and landscape construction methods
Ability to perform design drafting and graphic renderings
Ability to use computer-aided drafting and computer graphics software
