The City of Saskatoon seeks an experienced Lead Negotiator to lead collective bargaining in a multi-union environment, reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer. This permanent full-time role involves developing negotiation strategies, providing labour relations advice, and managing negotiations to achieve sustainable, legally compliant outcomes aligned with the City's priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead collective bargaining as principal spokesperson and advisor to the Chief Human Resources Officer on negotiations and labour relations matters
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies aligned with organizational goals, including multi-year bargaining strategy
  • Perform collective agreement costings, proposal costing, and ensure mandate compliance
  • Draft, review and edit collective bargaining proposals, offers for settlement, tentative agreements and Council Reports
  • Manage, coach, mentor and perform performance management of assigned professional and technical staff

Qualifications

  • Degree in Labour or Industrial Relations or related field
  • Ten years' related experience in human resources with emphasis in labour relations
  • Five years' experience in a Lead Negotiator capacity
  • Successful negotiation experience, preferably in municipal or public sector
  • Demonstrated experience in costing collective agreements and advanced knowledge of negotiation techniques and strategies
