Permanent part-time Library Assistant role providing public library services at the New Hamburg Library branch, including customer service, circulation, material handling, and assistance with programs and events.

Key Responsibilities

Provides customer service in adult and children's library areas; implements library policies and procedures
Circulates materials, manages reserves and registrations, collects fines using circulation software
Assists members with information requests and locating materials using catalogues and digital resources; provides basic technological assistance
Shelves materials, participates in collection maintenance, checks material condition
Assists with and presents library programs and events; promotes library services to community

Qualifications

Grade 12 diploma and 1 year experience working with adults, children, and books
Familiarity with library resources and practical knowledge of library operations
Computer skills including Microsoft Office, library automation software, internet, and digital resources
Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software; provide basic technological assistance
Human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in shifts including evenings and weekends

At a glance

Permanent part-time position, up to 24 hours per week

Work schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, including weekend and evening hours

Location: 145 Huron St, New Hamburg Library, Wilmot, ON
