The City of Guelph seeks a Licensed Automotive/Truck and Coach Technician or Apprentice Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair light and heavy vehicles and equipment within the Operations Department. Candidates with a 310T or 310S mechanic license may enter an apprenticeship program with employer-funded training and full wages during in-school sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, and repair light and heavy vehicles and equipment including engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems
Perform hydraulic repairs and service
Lubricate, refuel, change oil, service tires and batteries as required
Maintain accurate record keeping and a clean workplace
Assist with apprentice training and communicate issues to supervisors
Qualifications
Grade 12 diploma and 4 years relevant experience in maintenance and repair of light and heavy vehicles, or equivalent combination
Valid Truck and Coach (310T) License or valid Automotive Service Technician (310S) License; preference for both
Valid DZ driver's license or valid G license with ability to obtain DZ; good driving record
Computer literacy and familiarity with electronic diagnostic equipment; Microsoft Office skills
Ability to perform heavy lifting and various physical positions; knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Act
