About this job

Seasonal temporary Light Equipment Operator position with Solid Waste Management Services in Toronto supporting waste collection and public space cleaning across various locations from spring through fall 2027, working 40 hours per week at various shifts including overnight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate vehicles and equipment up to 11,000 kg including light trucks, vans, sidewalk vacuums, sweepers, and skid steers
  • Collect waste from public litter receptacles, inspect and service litter bins, and clean surrounding areas
  • Remove litter, debris, and illegally dumped materials from sidewalks, laneways, and public rights-of-way
  • Complete pre-trip inspections, incident reports, and identify equipment malfunctions
  • Perform labouring, maintenance, and cleaning activities; assist with snow shovelling and winter maintenance as required

Qualifications

  • Valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver's License
  • Physically capable of performing duties in all weather conditions
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment up to 11,000 kg
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
  • Ability to work shift work and interact courteously with public and team members
