Full-time Maintenance Electrician role with the Region of Waterloo's Water Operations and Maintenance department. Operates, maintains, and installs electrical equipment on water treatment and distribution systems, including high-voltage applications up to 27.6 kV, and performs emergency repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Operates, performs predictive/preventive/corrective maintenance, and installs electrical equipment in water treatment and distribution systems up to 27.6 kV
Maintains logs, work orders, test results, and documentation in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Inspects, monitors, adjusts, and operates water treatment equipment, disinfection systems, and electrical control equipment
Responds to on-call emergency situations and performs emergency repairs on electrical systems including high voltage up to 27,600 volts
Troubleshoots and maintains UV systems, variable frequency drives, soft starts, and transfer switches

Qualifications

2-year community college diploma as Electrical Technician-Industrial or equivalent plus 3 years Journeyperson status (Construction & Maintenance Electrician 309A or Industrial Electrician 442A) —OR— Grade 12 plus Journeyperson status plus 5 years experience; experience must include high voltage systems, switchgear, high horsepower motors, diesel generators, and motor/electrical control systems
Current MOE Class II Water Distribution Certificate and Class II Water Treatment Certificate (or attain within 4 years of hire)
Attend 50 hours annual training as stipulated by MOE and maintain current training and licenses
Valid Class G driver's license (or G2 with 3 years driving experience) and satisfactory driving record
Knowledge of high voltage substations, transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, auto/manual transfer switches, and emergency first aid
