Full-time HVAC and refrigeration maintenance technician position with Waterloo Region Housing and other corporate facilities. Role involves corrective, preventive, and demand-based maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems at multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform HVAC and refrigeration maintenance tasks including repairs, replacements, welding, filter changes, motor replacement, and troubleshooting on building systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, assess needs, procure parts from vendors and stockroom, and implement solutions
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for HVAC and refrigeration systems across Region-owned and rented properties
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor work for new installations and warranty work to ensure compliance with contracts, health and safety policies, and codes
  • Maintain Region-owned equipment, vehicles, tools, and resources valued at approximately $70,000; manage projects valued up to $30,000

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Gas Technician II certificate
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (313A) certificate
  • Community college certificate as Class II Building Environmental Systems Operator or equivalent education/experience in 6 components of certification
  • 3 years continuous experience operating and maintaining building environmental systems as Gas Technician II and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
