The Manager of Water reports to the Director of Infrastructure Services and provides strategic and operational leadership of the Town's Class III water supply and distribution system, overseeing staff, infrastructure operations, maintenance, budgets, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to Water Division staff; establish divisional priorities, work plans, and service expectations
- Oversee safe, effective operation and maintenance of municipal drinking water supply, treatment, storage, pumping, and distribution infrastructure
- Serve as Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) and maintain applicable operator certification
- Prepare and manage Water Division operating budget; monitor expenditures and recommend measures to improve financial performance
- Lead operational response to water system incidents and emergencies
Qualifications
- Diploma in Environmental Technology; preference for degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
- MOE Water Distribution and Supply Class 3 license (or higher)
- Seven years of related water operator experience, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience
- Thorough knowledge of municipal drinking-water supply and distribution operations and Class 3 system requirements
- Knowledge of applicable Ontario drinking-water legislation and Occupational Health & Safety Act
