Key Responsibilities
Interpret and apply municipal by-laws, legislation, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
Investigate complaints, collect evidence, and perform inspections to determine compliance and identify contraventions
Resolve compliance issues through education, voluntary compliance, and enforcement; initiate legal proceedings and provide testimony in court and tribunal hearings
Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, correspondence, reports, notices, orders, and prosecution briefs
Provide information and education to residents, businesses, City staff, elected officials, and industry stakeholders
Qualifications
Municipal Law Enforcement Officer certification (may be obtained upon hiring)
Graduate of recognized community college in law enforcement, security administration, criminal justice studies, or by-law related course
3-5 years working experience in related disciplines
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
Valid Driver's Licence; ability to operate City fleet vehicle and work primarily in the field
