About this job

A permanent full-time Parks Technician 14 position with the Community Services Department, reporting to the Parks Supervisor. The role involves supervising grounds maintenance staff, managing operational tasks, conducting minor repairs on irrigation systems, and ensuring health and safety compliance across park operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, direct, schedule, and evaluate assigned staff; complete annual performance reviews
  • Ensure timely completion of inspection reports, incident investigations, time tracking, and maintenance activity reports
  • Operate, schedule, and conduct minor repairs on semi and manual irrigation systems
  • Assist with procurement and delivery of operational materials and supplies to field staff
  • Resolve public and outside interest group operational concerns and coordinate required activities

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education
  • Diploma in horticulture
  • Three years progressively responsible experience in grounds maintenance, including one year supervising staff
  • Successful completion of recognized supervisory courses or ability to complete within hire date
  • Possession of or ability to obtain Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicator Permits within three months after hire
