The City of Mississauga seeks a Planner to represent departmental interests in parkland and greenlands planning, managing development applications, realty matters, and parkland acquisition under the Parks Assets, Urban Design team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and manage comments on development applications, environmental assessments, realty requests, and agreements related to parkland and greenlands, including parkland cash-in-lieu determinations
Coordinate, review, and prepare comments on license and easement agreements, land acquisition, and surplus declarations affecting City-owned parkland
Liaise and meet with public agencies, departments, professionals, consultants, elected officials, staff, residents, and special interest groups regarding park development
Attend and lead public meetings for presentation and provide professional advice to the public, Council, and other professionals
Attend and provide evidence at Ontario Land Tribunal hearings
Qualifications
Graduate from a recognized university in Planning or related discipline with minimum 5 years of experience in development planning
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of municipal land development processes including subdivision, rezoning, site plan applications, servicing and development agreements
Ability to liaise with elected officials, City Departments, federal and provincial authorities, conservation and regional authorities, and outside agencies
Demonstrated project management and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to provide detailed analysis, negotiate, and advocate for Parks Assets and Urban Design interests
