Temporary full-time Project Hydrogeologist position assisting with planning, design, and management of hydrogeologic services for municipal groundwater supplies. Provides technical expertise on quantity, quality, and protection of the Region's groundwater sources and source water protection programs.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, design, and manage hydrogeologic investigations to define groundwater quantity, quality, and contamination sources
Review and assess hydrogeologic submissions from developers and consultants to determine impacts on municipal groundwater supplies
Implement and maintain water quantity and quality monitoring programs for supply wells
Assist with vulnerability and activity risk assessments and delineation of protection areas
Provide technical support in developing policies and programs to reduce risks to municipal drinking water sources
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Hydrogeological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
Membership or eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Geoscientists or Professional Engineers of Ontario with competence in professional geoscience
Knowledge of Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Clean Water Act, and related legislation
Analytical and problem-solving skills to plan and develop projects and prepare complex technical reports
