Temporary full-time Project Manager for the Region of Waterloo's Capital Renewal Division, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the facilities capital renewal program for the corporation and police service. The role involves managing capital and construction projects, supervising staff, administering contracts, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Construction Project Coordinators and Junior Project Coordinators
  • Develop objectives and guidelines for managing facilities capital programs, including work programs and documentation for Council approval
  • Manage capital projects, including chairing project teams, reviewing technical reports, and participating in public meetings
  • Coordinate technical investigations to identify and prioritize work, prepare cost estimates, and schedule project design and implementation
  • Administer contracts for contractors and consultants, including negotiating claims, disputes, and payments

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in building construction and facility management education, plus progressively responsible related experience in residential or commercial construction and project management
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists at the Technologist level
  • Technical knowledge of construction trades and building systems (roofs, plumbing, fire alarm, elevator, electrical, HVAC systems) and contract administration
  • Leadership, human relations, negotiation, and communication skills to supervise staff and administer contracts
  • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to plan capital programs and manage simultaneous projects

35 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, Hybrid (3 days in office)
