Toronto Public Health seeks 4 temporary Public Health Nurses to provide clinical and community-based nursing services for individuals with mental health and addiction issues, including harm reduction education, clinical care, and outreach work until March 31, 2027.
Key Responsibilities
Provide public health nursing services to individuals and groups with mental health and addictions in clinical settings and community locations
Administer clinical services under medical directives including immunizations, physical examinations, STI testing, venipuncture, medication dispensing, and emergency care
Educate clients on harm reduction, overdose prevention, naloxone administration, safer drug use, STIs, and sexual health
Perform needle exchange and distribute safer drug use kits in various settings including offices, vans, clinics, streets, and shelters
Collaborate with other professionals and community agencies to identify health needs and develop partnerships
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BScN) from a recognized university and valid College of Nurses of Ontario license
Experience in harm reduction, drug treatment/addiction counselling, methadone, or HIV/AIDS related services
Experience in outreach with people who use drugs, those with mental health issues, or those experiencing homelessness
Valid Ontario Driver's License Class G and ability to qualify for City Equipment Operator's License
Thorough knowledge of reportable communicable diseases including Hepatitis C, HIV, Syphilis, and MPOX
