About this job

Regular full-time supervisor role reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and Planning. Responsible for coordinating the preparation of the City's annual budget, financial reporting, and strategic planning documents, while supervising staff and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preparation of annual operating budget, financial reporting, and strategic planning documents
  • Play key role in annual audit process
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies
  • Review and implement process improvements for efficient service delivery
  • Supervise staff including hiring, work assignment, training, and project direction

Qualifications

  • Business/Commerce degree with emphasis in accounting/finance and CPA designation, plus 5 years' experience in municipal finance (at least 3 years supervisory), or equivalent combination
  • Specific experience with municipal budgeting, strategic financial planning, and financial reporting including financial statement preparation and audit oversight
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and related software applications including PeopleSoft
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills with excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and oral) for interactions with management, elected officials, staff, and public
