Temporary full-time Roads Maintainer position with the Region of Waterloo performing general roads maintenance, winter snow and ice control, and equipment operation on regional roads and properties. Three positions available for a 5-month contract, working shifts that may include days, evenings, or nights.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment before use
Operate tandem-axle dump trucks and utility vehicles to haul materials such as gravel, asphalt, and topsoil to worksites
Cut grass and vegetation along roadsides using agricultural tractors with flail mowers; remove graffiti from regional property
Operate plow, salting, and sanding equipment during winter season; adjust application rates of salt, sand, and anti-icing materials
Install culverts, catch basins, snow fences, and perform guiderail/cable maintenance, cold/hot patching, and drainage maintenance
Qualifications
Grade 12 education or equivalent; ability to read and understand safety notices, equipment manuals, and product labels
2 years of directly related experience with proper operation and use of equipment
