About this job
Temporary full-time Roads Maintainer position with the Region of Waterloo, performing general roads maintenance activities including winter snow/ice control and summer maintenance, primarily operating trucks and using hand tools on regional roads, bridges, and roadsides.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment; operate tandem-axle dump trucks and utility vehicles to haul materials
- Cut grass and vegetation along roadsides using agricultural tractors; remove graffiti from regional property
- Operate trucks for winter plowing, salting, and sanding; adjust application rates of materials to suit conditions
- Install culverts, clean catch basins, install/remove snow fences, and perform general roads maintenance such as patching and debris removal
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in safe working condition; perform traffic control duties around worksites
Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand policy, procedural, and instructive material such as safety notices, equipment operation manuals, and safety data sheets
