The City of Charlottetown seeks a Senior Accountant for its Finance Department to support financial operations including reporting, budgeting, audit support, and accounting oversight across multiple departments. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, analyses, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and year-end audit processes
  • Prepare government funding claims and compliance reports
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing financial components of tenders
  • Complete payroll reconciliations, pension reporting, and other financial working papers

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a large organization or public sector environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and audit preparation
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with enterprise accounting software
  • CPA designation preferred but not required
