Senior Technical Support Specialist 1 leading the File Services team at the City of Toronto. This full-time permanent role provides strategic leadership and senior technical oversight for the city's enterprise unstructured data and file storage infrastructure, including OpenText/Novell OES file systems and OneDrive, reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure & Platform Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and implement detailed plans; recommend policies and procedures for file services and storage infrastructure
  • Supervise, motivate, and train File Services team staff; manage scheduling, work assignments, performance evaluations, and disciplinary matters
  • Lead technical project teams across departments to determine requirements, evaluate solutions, and implement enterprise software and hardware
  • Provide senior-level support for enterprise software/hardware installation, upgrades, configuration, security administration, capacity planning, and performance tuning
  • Develop, manage, and report on detailed project plans; ensure corporate security standards and audit controls; manage change and vendor relations

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive experience administering OpenText/Novell OES environments including NSS file systems and eDirectory in large enterprise settings
  • Considerable experience administering OneDrive for Business, including provisioning, access governance, and coexistence with on-premises file shares
  • Experience supervising technical staff, including scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, and monitoring performance
  • Experience with capacity planning, storage growth forecasting, and lifecycle management procurement; familiarity with MFIPPA and AODA legislation
