Full-time permanent and temporary Special Constables serve with Ottawa Transit Services as Peace Officers appointed by the Ottawa Police Services Board. Responsible for ensuring safety and security of passengers, employees, transit property, and the public while enforcing federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure safety and security of passengers, employees, Transit Services property, vehicles, and the general public
Enforce federal, provincial, and municipal laws within scope of duties
Perform investigations, patrol, and enforcement activities
Respond to incidents and emergencies
Apply Criminal Code of Canada, Provincial Offences Act, Trespass to Property Act, and municipal bylaws
Qualifications
Completion of 2-year community college Police Foundations or Law and Security Certificate
Minimum 2 years law enforcement experience (security, policing, corrections, or related people/enforcement experience)
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
Valid Ontario unrestricted class G driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
Enhanced reliability clearance including fingerprinting, credit check, interviews, investigations and background reference checks
