Part-time Heritage Specialist role with the City of Ottawa delivering interpretive and educational programs at historic sites and museums, including program development, visitor services, and heritage project support.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver interpretive and educational programs at city historic sites and museums
Conduct ongoing heritage projects including Oral History project and historical research
Assist with promotional activities and community outreach to volunteers and facility user groups
Receive and direct visitors, answer public inquiries including genealogy research, and provide public information
Assist in supervision and training of summer staff and perform reception and clerical duties as needed
Qualifications
Enrolled in university or college program in history, social sciences, museum studies, education or related discipline
Minimum 2 years interpretive experience in museum environment OR 2 years teaching in school environment OR 1 year historical research and project writing
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
Knowledge of MS Office software including Word and Excel
