The Stagehand reports to the Theatre Business Operations Coordinator and provides technical support for events and performances at Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts and other cultural facilities. The role involves operating lighting, audio, video, rigging, and staging equipment; assisting with load-in and load-out; and ensuring safe and professional technical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate lighting, audio, video, special effects, staging, and theatrical equipment; assist with load-in and load-out
Review supervisor instructions and client requests to ensure technical requirements are understood and executed
Configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot production equipment and rentals
Provide technical services and advice to internal and external clients regarding event production
Conduct backstage inspections using enterprise systems and support emergency procedures
Qualifications
2-year Theatre Arts – Technical Production Diploma with minimum 1 year related and relevant experience
Minimum 1 year experience in culture and entertainment sector with diverse events
Expertise in technical event production including sound, lighting, rigging, video, and stage management
CPR and Standard First Aid certified
Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire
