Key Responsibilities
Undertake field investigations and studies to monitor and assess surface water, ground water, sewer and aquatic biology characteristics
Perform surface water sampling, biological sampling and monitoring
Analyze data and prepare reports on environmental monitoring findings
Operate hydrometric and computerized field equipment
Conduct fisheries and benthic invertebrate sampling and identification
Qualifications
2-year community college diploma as Environmental Technician, Civil Engineering Technician or related field
Minimum 2 years experience in surface water sampling and monitoring, biological sampling and monitoring, or equivalent wastewater sampling and monitoring
Confined space entry training or completion within employer-defined timeframe
Knowledge of hydrometric equipment, fisheries and benthic invertebrate sampling, surface water sampling techniques, nautical safety regulations, and traffic control procedures
Ability to safely operate vehicles, boats and computerized field units; analyze data; write clear reports
