Lead an award-winning team of arborists and forestry technicians delivering tree care services across Mississauga's streets, parks, and natural areas. This non-unionized supervisor role combines in-house crew management, contractor oversight, proactive maintenance, and emergency storm response with an execution-focused approach to urban forest operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise planning and delivery of arboricultural and boulevard vegetation management services safely and efficiently
  • Supervise planning, coordination, scheduling and supervision of contractors, personnel, equipment, and supplies
  • Set operational priorities, objectives, milestones, timelines, and performance measures for assigned area
  • Supervise emergency response and act as Incident Commander during extreme weather events and critical incidents
  • Supervise, mentor, train, recruit, and manage assigned staff; authorize overtime and leave requests; provide performance management

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in urban forestry, arboriculture, ecology, environmental science, or related discipline
  • Certified Arborist with International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and Tree Risk Assessment Qualification
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in urban forestry
  • Extensive knowledge of urban forestry and arboriculture principles and practices
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing projects, crews, and contractors; excellent communication and leadership skills
